Baku hosted the 1st International Congress of Azerbaijan Pediatric Society dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the birth of National Leader Heydar Aliyev. 500 pediatricians took part in the Congress, where were representatives of 13 countries: Azerbaijan, Turkey, The U.S.A., Great Britain, Romania, Israel, Russia, Jordan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, and The Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.
At the opening of the congress, Deputy Minister of Health Nadir Zeynalov spoke about the great role of national leader Heydar Aliyev in the development of medicine in our country, noted the importance of such measures and wished success to the work of the Congress. Erkin Rahimov, Chairman of the Azerbaijan Pediatric Society, expert specialist of the Ministry of Health, Assistant of the Department of Pediatrics of the A. Aliyev Institute of Pediatrics, spoke about the formation of the society, its events, and successes. Then Erkin Rakhimov presented his scientific work on the topic "The role of lung ultrasound and biomarkers in blood in the differential diagnosis of respiratory distress syndrome with transient tachypnea of newborns".
On the 1st day of the congress, 4 courses were organized for doctors: pediatric Radiology, pediatric Dermatology, immunization, outpatient monitoring of children. At the same time, a meeting of the National Association of Pediatric Societies of Turkic-speaking States was held. In the following days of the congress, panels and symposiums on the scientific program were held in two conference halls. 56 presentations from different countries were heard at the panels on pediatrics, neonatology, emergency care, surgical diseases in pediatrics, endocrinology, rheumatology, rehabilitation of children, nephrology, neurology, cardiology, rare hereditary diseases, immunology and allergology, psychiatry, hematology, gastroenterology, diseases of hereditary metabolism, nutrition and dietetics. In addition, 8 symposia were organized during the congress. Professor Ragsana Mammadova, Head of the Department of Pediatrics of ASATID, Associate Professors Zemfira Guliyeva, Fakhraddin Qarayev, Matanat Qarakhanova, Sanubar Veliyeva and Tarana Ibadova participated as moderators in various symposiums. Associate Professor of the Department Nigar Hajiyeva presented the topic "Alternative methods of treatment of respiratory viral infections" at a symposium held on the panel of social pediatrics on the first day of the congress and the topics "modern principles of approach to constipation in children" and "how to recognize irritable bowel syndrome" at two symposiums held on the panel of gastroenterology on the 2nd day of the congress.
