
Healthcare in Azerbaijan has suffered a heavy loss. Mahir Mammad oglu Aliyev, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor of the Department of Dentistry and Maxillofacial Surgery of the Azerbaijan State Advanced Training Institute for Doctors named after A. Aliyev, died on April 8, 2021.
After graduating with honors from the medical institute in 1978, Mahir Mammad oglu Aliyev completed a one-year internship and until 1982 worked as a dentist at the Republican Dental Center, Dental Clinic No. 5 in Baku. In 1982-1986 he studied at the Central Scientific Research Dental Institute of the USSR Ministry of Health in Moscow and defended his thesis on "Clinical, morphological and immunological aspects of scarlet fever, diagnosis and treatment principles."
In 1986, by the request of the USSR Ministry of Health, he was hired as an assistant in the course of therapeutic dentistry at the Azerbaijan State Advanced Training Institute for Doctors named after A. Aliyev, from 1991 to 2017 he worked as an assistant professor of the department o dentistry and maxillofacial surgery. In 2011, M.M. Aliyev defended his thesis on "Etiopathogenetic features, diagnosis and principles of modern treatment of toxic, allergic and keratosis diseases of the oral mucosa" and received a doctorate in medical sciences. Since 2017, he has been a professor at the Department of Dentistry and Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.
Professor Mahir Mammad oglu Aliyev made a great contribution to the specialization and professional development of medical personnel. Repeatedly participated in congresses and conferences in the CIS countries and abroad, successfully applied novelties in healthcare practice. M.M. Aliyev is the author of over 180 scientific works, 3 monographs, 3 textbooks (co-authors), 9 textbooks, 5 guidelines, 2 patents and 4 rationalization proposals.
The memory of the famous scientist, educated doctor and teacher Professor Mahir Mammad oglu Aliyev will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew him.
