For the first time in the history of Azerbaijani healthcare, the Azerbaijan Medical University has passed international accreditation. The accreditation was conducted by the Independent Agency for Accreditation and Rating (IAAR-Independent Agency for Accreditation and Rating), officially recognized by the World Federation of Medical Education since 2017.
According to the Deputy Director General of the agency Timur Kanapyanov, on the basis of a letter sent to the rector of the Azerbaijan State Advanced Training Institute for Doctors named after A. Aliyev, Professor Nazim Gasimov, Associate Professor of the Department of General and Plastic Surgery Ilaha Akbarova participated in the accreditation of the AMU as a foreign expert.
Ilaha Kamal kizi Akbarova was awarded the IAAR expert certificate by the IAAR staff.
